A one-off deep clean in Uxbridge starts at £186. You get at least two cleaners for at least three hours, at £26 an hour each, plus £30 for equipment and cleaning products. Bigger houses simply get more time or a third cleaner.

It is a single visit aimed at the places routine cleaning never reaches: tops of the wall units, behind the cooker, the grout, door tops, inside the light fittings. We charge for the team and the hours, and that is what separates it from a move-out clean, which has a set price per property size.

Sample prices

Cleaners and hours Total including kit
2 cleaners for 3 hours £186
2 cleaners for 4 hours £238
2 cleaners for 5 hours £290
3 cleaners for 3 hours £264
3 cleaners for 4 hours £342

Supply your own vacuum and products and the £30 is dropped. Most people keep it on. It covers the extraction machine and steamer, plus pads and chemicals. One charge per job, never hourly.

Kitchen first, floors last

The kitchen always goes first. Cupboard doors, the insides if they are empty, the extractor filter, behind the cooker if it slides out, the fridge seals and the tops of the wall units, where grease collects in the low back kitchens that almost every local semi has. After that the bathrooms get taken right back to the grout. Then the rest of the house gets a level of attention a weekly clean never has time for, radiator backs, skirting boards, light fittings, door tops and internal glass among it. Floors come last of all.

Four usual reasons to book

Family are about to visit and the house has slid further than a weekly cleaner could fix. A landlord has got a property back partway through a tenancy and needs it presentable before viewings. The builders have left, and a fine grey dust covers everything, light fittings included. Or a flat has sat empty for months and smells like it. Spring is busy with the first kind, and August goes quiet. Most deep cleans are booked a week or two ahead. Even so, a Friday afternoon opens up at short notice more often than you might expect.

Traffic film on the windows

Uxbridge lies under the Heathrow approach and next to the junction where the A40 becomes the M40. Sills go black here. The film on the outside of the glass and along the top of uPVC frames builds up faster than in the rest of the borough, and it is oily, so a dry cloth just smears it around. Internal glass and sills are part of every deep clean, along with outside glass on the ground floor.

After building work

We get a steady stream of after-builders jobs from the St Andrew’s Park flats on the old RAF Uxbridge site and the canalside blocks at Cowley Lock. Plaster dust is the worst part. It settles again twice more after you think it has gone, gets into every window track and clogs a vacuum filter in about an hour, so an after-builders clean takes longer than a normal deep clean of the same size. If three hours looks too few, we tell you when we quote. Quoting four and finishing in three and a half is a far nicer conversation than the other way round.

Descaling

Hard water is a constant in this town. On a deep clean we take off shower screens that unclip, soak the heads and put an acid gel round the base of every tap. Toilet bowls get the same.

Better booked as something else

Handing the keys back? Book the end of tenancy clean instead; it is priced by bedrooms and cleaned to the standard an inventory clerk expects. Weekly help is regular housework at £23 an hour. Carpets alone do not need a team, and carpet cleaning starts at £36 a room. If you are not sure, ring and describe the job. Mention how long it is since the place was last done properly, and any recent building work, and we will suggest the hours.

The rates are the same in Denham and West Drayton as in the middle of Uxbridge, with nothing added for travel. Everything else we take on is set out on the Uxbridge front page.

Questions we get asked

What is the starting price for a deep clean?

£186, made up of two cleaners on site for three hours (£26 an hour each) and £30 for kit. Add an hour and it becomes £238; add a third cleaner instead and it is £264.

Is a deep clean the same thing as regular cleaning?

No. Regular housework is paid by the hour at £23 or £24 and repeats weekly or fortnightly. A deep clean is a one-off visit by at least two cleaners, with three hours as the minimum.

Do you do after-builders cleans?

Yes. They take longer than a deep clean of the same size because plaster dust keeps settling. We quote extra hours up front. A lot of ours are in the newer flats at St Andrew’s Park and Cowley Lock.

Can you get limescale off shower glass?

Usually. We take screens off where they unclip, soak them and use an acid gel round the taps. If the scale has etched the glass, that surface has gone and no product will restore it.

Can I supply my own equipment?

Yes, and then the £30 kit charge is dropped. Two cleaners for three hours would come to £156 in labour.

Priced before we start. Every time.
