Yiewsley has a UB7 postcode, not UB8, which catches people out because it is only a mile and a half down the canal from Uxbridge town centre. The towpath joins the two. Our prices do not change across that line: move-out cleans cost £156 for a studio flat or £243 with two bedrooms, and each weekly cleaner costs £23 an hour.
Housing built on the brickfields
Yiewsley grew up on brickfields and light industry, and you can still see it in the housing. Terraces built for the workers, infill behind them, a growing number of flats on land that used to be sheds and yards, and the odd Victorian villa that survived all of it. The new flats are quick to clean. The older terraces have chimney breasts, picture rails, deep window reveals and old-fashioned skirting boards that hold on to dust far more than modern trim.
Dust from the working sites
There is still light industry among the houses, and the streets closest to it collect a heavier dust than normal road dirt. It settles on window sills and the top of the fridge, and it needs a damp cloth. A terrace that backs onto a working yard gets an extra pass along the bay windows at no extra charge.
Tenancies end in any month
Cowley follows the student year; UB7 does not. People renting here work at Heathrow or in the Stockley Park offices, so a tenancy ends whenever a job does, and our Yiewsley move-outs come in February and October as often as June. Short notice is normal, and we keep a little room in the diary for it.
Split terraces with two kitchens
Many of the bigger terraces have been divided into two flats with a kitchen each, so a landlord clearing the whole building wants both ovens cleaned in one visit. We do them together on the same day. That saves us a trip; it does not change your price, and it seems fairer to say so.

Damp near the towpath
Ground-floor flats by the canal hold damp. Winter is the difficult season. For most of the year it is no trouble, but between November and March carpets need an extra hour to dry, so we bring an air mover as a matter of course. Carpets cost £36 per bedroom, £43 per living room. Setting up the blower beats promising you it will be dry by four and being wrong.
Next door
West Drayton is straight on to the south, and its Elizabeth line station draws a lot of the same renters. Cowley is back north towards town. Little Britain Lake and the Colne Valley park lie to the west, which is lovely for walks and hard on hall carpets between October and March. Our full price list applies to every bit of it.
