Larger houses, larger carpet bills
The semis and detached houses around the village are bigger than their town-centre cousins. Some have three reception rooms, and a great many have a through lounge.

A through lounge is priced as one room at £61, where two separate rooms would be £43 each, so it helps to know which you have before ringing. House size pushes a deep clean past the three-hour minimum too. Two cleaners for four hours is £238.
We find parquet here more often than anywhere else we cover. Lovely floor. It turns up under carpet, in hallways and sometimes in the front room, and we check it before any water goes onto the carpet above.
Fortnightly is the usual rota
More Ickenham houses are on our fortnightly list than our weekly one. It suits owners who keep things tidy between visits and want the heavy work done every other Tuesday. Fortnightly housework is £24 an hour for each cleaner against £23 weekly, and four hours in a large semi is the booking we take most often out here. Some houses have two cleaners for three hours instead, £138 a week, and get the place back before lunch. It costs the same either way, so it comes down to whether you want your morning or your afternoon.
Muddy halls in autumn
Dog walkers bring half the countryside home, and the hall carpet takes it. Autumn and February are the worst months. The stairs catch whatever the hall misses, and a flight costs £41 when it is done with the rooms.
Two lines, one station
Ickenham station has the Metropolitan and the Piccadilly, one stop out from the Uxbridge terminus. That is handy for us, since a cleaner without a van can get here and back within a shift.
Big ovens in replaced kitchens
Plenty of kitchens here have been refitted a couple of times, and the ovens tend to be large. A 90cm range is £143 and a double £110. The racks come out to soak while the inside is cleaned in your kitchen. Range cookers take longer than their price would suggest; we charge the list price all the same.
