Denham is UB9, across the River Colne, which puts it in Buckinghamshire and outside the London Borough of Hillingdon. We cross the river most weeks. Older village houses
The housing in Denham is older than the Metroland streets closer to Uxbridge. There are cottages and larger detached houses along the lanes towards the country park, and some proper period buildings in the middle of the village. Expect solid floors and tall skirting boards. Open fires still get lit in winter, and soot makes a real difference to a deep clean here in a way it never does in a 1930s semi with the fireplace boarded up.

Mud is the other thing. Dogs and boots come back off the fields and the country park, and the walk home along the canal from Denham Lock adds more, so hall and stair carpets take the worst of it. A flight of stairs is £41.
Old floors need gentler handling
Quarry tiles, flagstones, brick and original boards all turn up in the village cottages, and none of them can take what a modern laminate puts up with. Flagstone soaks up anything you put on it. Waxed boards go cloudy under a steamer, so we use a damp mop and a neutral cleaner on both, and leave sealing and waxing to a floor specialist. That is a trade worth paying for, not something a cleaner should guess at. Carpet laid over a solid floor is common out here as well, and it dries more slowly than carpet over suspended timber.
Getting to you
Denham has its own Chiltern line station, and the lanes fill with commuters’ cars on weekdays. By van it is around fifteen minutes from the town centre, with no travel charge, and when we are working in Ickenham in the morning we can often offer an afternoon slot the same day.
When a rental comes up
When a tenancy ends, the move-out clean is still priced by bedroom numbers, anywhere between £156 (studio) and £425 (four bedrooms); an oven is optional and costs £31. Cottages full of odd corners and walls that are not straight take longer than the bedroom count suggests, so now and then we quote above the table. Better that than haggling on the doorstep.
