A bedroom carpet in Uxbridge costs £36 to clean. Living rooms are £43, a through lounge £61, and every flight of stairs £41. One-off work has a £67 minimum. A single bedroom booked by itself therefore costs £67, which is why most people who ring about one room end up adding the stairs or the landing.
Every job is done by hot water extraction. The machine pushes hot solution down into the pile and sucks it back up in a single pass, dirt included. A bonnet clean is the cheaper alternative some firms use: a damp pad buffs the top of the carpet and the grit further down stays exactly where it was.

Knocked-through lounges
A lot of the 1930s semis on this side of the borough had the dividing wall between the two reception rooms knocked out years ago. We price that as one room at £61, since it is about twice the carpet and takes about twice as long. Two separate rooms would be £43 each. Worth knowing which you have before you call.
Checking the floor underneath
Lift a corner of carpet in a semi around Hillingdon or Ickenham and there is a fair chance of parquet or the original boards. Wood hates standing water. Where a seam has opened, or the carpet has pulled off its gripper rod, water runs through onto the timber and can make it lift, so we check every edge before the first pass.
The dull patch by the window
The mains here is hard. Affinity draws it from the Colne valley chalk, and the calcium in it joins up with leftover detergent to leave a powdery film at the foot of the pile. Nobody notices at first. About six weeks later the carpet looks tired by the window and picks up dirt faster than before, and the machine gets the blame. We soften the rinse water and go easy on detergent to stop that happening. The carpet may look a touch less bright on the day; it stays clean for a lot longer.
Stairs, then the rugs
A flight is £41. In most Metroland houses that means one flight with a quarter turn and a small landing at the top, and that landing is charged on its own at £9. Rugs are done where they lie if there is room around them, or out on the drive when the weather is dry. A wool rug with a jute back gets a low-moisture clean, because jute browns when soaked and the mark would wick up through the pile later. Please mention anything old or valuable before we begin.
Drying
| Point | Time, roughly |
|---|---|
| Fine to walk on in socks | 2 hours |
| Dry right through | 6 hours |
| Dry right through with an air mover | 3 hours |
Winter adds time, as do flats where the windows only tilt open. Wool is the slowest of the lot. The ground-floor flats beside Cowley Lock stay cool and hold on to moisture for most of the year, so we take an air mover to those without being asked.
Stains and pet accidents
Most traffic lanes, tea, food and fresh pet accidents come out. For urine we use an enzyme treatment that goes after the smell at its source. We will shift a sofa and take a bed apart if needed.
Carpets at the end of a tenancy
If you book them with a move-out clean, the room rates drop (bedrooms £29, living rooms £36, through lounges £47, stairs £35 a flight), go on top of the property price, and the carpets are done last. The £67 minimum stops mattering, because the main clean is well over it. Many tenants add the oven at that point too, which on a move-out is £31 for the oven clean. A house that has been let slide needs more than fresh carpets, though, and that is a job for a one-off deep clean from £186. Our other work is on the Uxbridge home page.
Questions we get asked
How are carpets priced in Uxbridge?
Per room. Bedrooms £36, living rooms £43, through lounges £61, and £41 a flight for stairs. One-off jobs have a £67 floor, so a lone bedroom is billed at £67.
When can I walk on the carpet again?
In socks after about two hours. It takes around six to dry right through, longer in winter or where the windows only tilt. If a room has no airflow we leave an air mover running.
My carpet is over floorboards. Is that a problem?
Not if the carpet is in good shape and fixed down properly. Plenty of semis in Hillingdon and Ickenham have parquet or old boards underneath, and a carpet that has come off its gripper lets water through onto the wood, so we check first.
Does the hard water leave residue in the carpet?
Not with the way we rinse. We soften the rinse water and use little detergent. That chalky film at the base of the pile is what makes a carpet look grubby again a few weeks after cleaning.
Is it cheaper to add carpets to a move-out clean?
Yes. Booked with the move-out, a bedroom is £29 instead of £36 and a living room £36 instead of £43, and the £67 minimum no longer applies because the main clean is already above it.
